Every instrument deserves to be treated with great care.
This includes the fitting of the bassbar. When checking the proper bassbar fit with chalk large forces are imposed upon a small area of the top. In addition, the top itself is very flexible. Already minimum pressure
deforms the thin wood and makes the bassbar fitting very difficult.
Fixing the top onto a light aluminum-frame before fitting, however, helps to balance the pressure distribution. Even complicated cracks can be relieved easily.
Fixing the top on a rigid bassbar-frame simulates a stiffness of the top as if it would be glued to the ribs. Thus, fitting the bassbar using a bassbar-frame is as if the top would be sitting on the ready-to-play instrument.
